Copepods are superior food organisms for fish and crustaceans. They are known to have greater digestibility and a relatively high weight specific caloric content. They are also more nutritionally valuable than some strains of Artemia. Copepods are very suitable for larvae with small gapes, which Artemia would be too large for them to ingest.
 
Cyclopidae contains Apocyclops which are slightly larger than Tisbe and smaller than Tigriopus. This intermediate size copepod are suitable for animals with a silghtly larget gapes. Cyclopidae are rich in nutrients containing amino acids and proteins.
